FAQs

FAQ's

- frequently asked questions -
can you assemble my bike, even if i bought it online?

absolutely! we welcome any bike, regardless of where it was purchased -- we believe that a healthy bike ecosystem consists of multiple branches and that good service should be the standard, even if you bought your bike at a different shop, on the internet or at a yard sale or pawn shop.

as always, we're still a no-judgement environment.

do y'all buy bikes? what if mine is really special?

nope. and nope.

we're changing up a few things, which means we don't have the luxury of extra space or time to wear as many hats as we used to. you can sell your bikes online or via various other outlets, but we're no longer one of them.

please note: bringing it down to the shop and asking us in person will get you the same answer.

what types of bicycles will you work on?

we proudly (and happily) work on everything, because we're one of the only bike shops in the southwest that has certified specialists for everything! yep, you read that right: whether it's 1950s Campagnolo, a fixed-gear track setup, wireless shifting, downhill race suspension, or even e-bikes and trikes, we'll work on it all and make sure it's done right. our diverse team has a skill-set that runs wide and deep, and it's what sets us apart.

do i need an appointment for a special service?

it depends on the service or requests; a bike fit requires an appointment, but a tube change or tune up absolutely doesn't. we also don't set appointments for bike drop-offs or service reservations as experience has shown us that it's not the best way to use our limited staff.

is it a co-op or a coop?

both! we're a private cooperative that's staff-owned and committed to profit sharing, but we're also a coop (like chicken coop) -- we're not a public cooperative, however, so we don't rent out stands or our tools.

where are you located?

we're at 120 Yale Blvd SE in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

we're located in the Bricklight shopping district between Silver Avenue and Central on the east side of Yale, just one block south of the University of New Mexico's main campus.

do you sell gift cards?

we do! you can purchase a physical card at the shop in person, or you can easily purchase a digital gift card to The Bike Coop in our online store or on our gift card page.

can you do rush service?

we service bikes in the order that they arrive and generally avoid line-skipping as much as humanly possible to maintain fairness, efficiency and service quality. however, emergencies happen and we'll do our best to accommodate unavoidable emergent situations.

no, this doesn't include last-minute race preparations or late night pre-road trip suspension overhauls.

what's your COVID-19 mask policy?

we require that masks be worn at all times in the store by any patron 2+ years of age and older, regardless of health condition or vaccination status. it's strictly enforced and we will not serve patrons who refuse to abide by our rules.

you can read more about that and more HERE.
